Workplace violence can come from inside the workplace or from outside agents in the workplace. Some of the major risk factors of employee violence inside the workplace would be employees getting angry with tools or heavy machinery at hand and acting violent with those materials as weapons. Outside agents cause the most risk and hazard because nobody knows who they are and what they have on their person, or their motive. Once at a job site I was at we locked down the site because someone was walking around the site who was not a worker and claimed he was looking for someone and had a gun. We notified police and they arrived and tackled him down. Thankfully nobody was injured but it could have easily turned out the other way. For violence inside the workplace I would recommend that as soon as someone is in a angry mood a supervisor is let know just so they can keep in eye out incase things end up being violent. Or sending the employee home just to diffuse the risk of the situation. For violence from outside the workplace I would recommend a suitable Emergeny Action Plan that is always being revised and changing, because a construction site is always changing.
