The importance of validation studies as part of selecting the right candidate. The main purpose of a selection program is to predict success in a job once the worker(s) is employed by an organization.A high score on a criterion measure is central to the utility of such a program. Here the final piece to the puzzle in selecting the right individual for the job is the criteria measures; the focus is on the criterion measures of an individual’s job performance. These performance measures could be a manager or supervisor’s rating of that individual’s work attitude or ability or the product output of an individual learner. These measures are NOT to be confused with cutoff scores on a pencil and paper selection test.
