In this assignment, you are free to choose the topic you want to work on provided it relates to a theme of everyday politics. Ideally you should develop your first self-reflective piece into an essay. You can use the same example you have provided but instead of to reflect upon your own personal experience with everyday resistance/ politics, you should instead use the insight gained from that experience to make an evaluative argument about politics.
For example, if your first essay reflected on your personal experience with emotions or social media in politics, or for instance a personal decision to join a grassroot movement, in your second essay you should evaluate the role that emotions/social media/grassroot movements play in politics in a general way and why understanding its ‘everyday’ dimension is so crucial. This could be an argument for the extent to which understanding the ‘everyday’ (daily practices, popular culture, the role of some objects, temporalities or sites (like streets) that usually are not considered by traditional politics) is a useful addition to exploring politics. is it for instance a contribution to democratising political analysis?
